Privacy Policy
Who we are
Line ("Line", the "App") is operated by Bounty Studio, Inc. ("Bounty Studio", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Line, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
By using Line, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
A quick summary
We have tried to keep this readable. In short:
• Line is a language-learning app where you have real-time, out-loud voice conversations with AI characters inside story scenarios.
• To make that work, your voice, the things you type, and the scenarios and characters you create are processed by us and by a small number of trusted AI and infrastructure providers (Google, OpenAI, Groq, ElevenLabs, Cloudflare, PlanetScale, Apple, and Expo).
• We use your information to run the App, generate conversations, art, and audio, produce your grammar reports, and improve the experience.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
• You can access, correct, export, or delete your information by contacting us.
The sections below give the full detail.
Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide to us
• Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address. If you register with email and password, we store a securely hashed version of your password. If you register using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider (subject to the choices you make with them, such as Apple's Hide My Email feature).
• Learning profile. The languages you speak and are learning, and your selected proficiency level.
• Content you create. Custom scenarios, characters, settings, genres, tones, and art direction prompts that you build, along with any other content you submit in the App.
• Communications. Information you provide when you contact us for support or otherwise communicate with us.
3.2 Voice and conversation data
Because Line is built around speaking, the following is central to how the App works:
• Microphone audio. When you start a voice conversation, audio from your device microphone is captured and streamed in real time so that an AI character can understand you and respond out loud. We access the microphone only during voice conversations and only after you grant permission. See Section 5 for detail on how voice is processed.
• Conversation transcripts and messages. We store text transcripts of your conversations (both what you say and what the characters say), along with related learning data such as translations, romanizations, suggested responses, and grammar reports that identify and correct issues in your speech.
3.3 Information we collect automatically
• Device and connection information. Your IP address and user agent (device and operating system information) are recorded with your login sessions.
• Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store the push token issued for your device so we can deliver notifications to you.
• Usage and diagnostic information. Basic information needed to operate and secure the service, such as request and error logs generated by our hosting providers.
• Device motion (on device only). To power the "tilt your phone to look around" feature, the App reads your device's motion sensors (such as the gyroscope and accelerometer). This motion data is used on your device to move the camera in the scene. It is not collected by us, stored, or transmitted to our servers.
• Local app storage. Some data, including your authentication tokens and cached content, is stored locally on your device using secure device storage. This stays on your device.
3.4 Information from third parties
• Sign-in providers. If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (name and email) and authentication tokens from those services so we can create and secure your account.
We do not collect special categories of data (such as health, biometric identifiers used to uniquely identify you, precise geolocation, or financial account numbers). We do not knowingly use device identifiers for advertising.
How we use your information
We use the information described above to:
• Provide and operate the App, including authenticating you and keeping you signed in.
• Power real-time voice conversations with AI characters and generate their spoken and written responses.
• Generate the visual world: character portraits, scenes, maps, and art-style previews.
• Generate audio, including pronunciation playback, background music, and sound effects.
• Produce your learning features, such as instant translations, romanization, suggested responses, and end-of-conversation grammar reports.
• Save your progress so you can pick up your stories where you left off.
• Send you push notifications you have enabled.
• Maintain the security and integrity of the App, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug and fix problems.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Communicate with you about support requests and important service changes.
How voice and AI processing works
Line relies on third-party artificial intelligence services to deliver its core features. When you use the App, the relevant inputs are sent to these providers so they can generate the output you asked for. Specifically:
• Real-time voice conversations, conversational AI, and pronunciation audio are provided by Google. Your microphone audio is streamed to Google's Gemini and Gemini Live services, which interpret what you say, generate the character's response, and produce the spoken voice you hear. Google also generates text-to-speech audio used for pronunciation playback. We connect to Google's real-time voice service from your device using short-lived access tokens issued by our servers.
• Image generation is provided by OpenAI. The prompts and art direction used to create character portraits, scene and map artwork, and art-style previews are sent to OpenAI's image generation service (its gpt-image / DALL-E models), which returns the generated images.
• Additional text features are provided by Google, OpenAI, and Groq. Features such as translations, suggested responses, grammar analysis, and conversation analysis may send the relevant text (including your conversation content) to one or more of Google, OpenAI, and Groq for processing.
• Background music and sound effects are provided by ElevenLabs. Prompts used to generate ambient music and sound effects for scenes and maps are sent to ElevenLabs.
These providers process your inputs in order to deliver the requested service to us. We use them under terms intended to limit their use of your data to providing their services, and we do not authorize them to use your personal information for their own advertising. Each provider also handles data under its own privacy policy, which we link in Section 7. Please review them, because your use of voice and AI features means your inputs are processed by these companies.
AI-generated content can be inaccurate. Conversations, translations, and grammar feedback are generated automatically and may contain errors. They are provided for language-learning purposes and are not professional, medical, legal, or other expert advice.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described here:
• With service providers and sub-processors who host our infrastructure and provide the AI features described above, so that they can perform services on our behalf. Our current providers are listed in Section 7.
• For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bounty Studio, our users, or others.
• In a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
• With your consent, or at your direction, for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time.
